Yuuichi Katagiri values his four closest friends — Yutori Kokorogi, Shiho Sawaragi, Makoto Shibe, and Tenji Mikasa — above all else. When the class trip funds they collected go missing, the five are kidnapped and forced into the Tomodachi Game, a series of psychological challenges run by the figure Manabu-kun, where one of them has secretly enrolled the group to pay off a twenty-million-yen debt. Each round is designed to turn trust into suspicion.
