Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi, the manga duo Ashirogi Muto, begin serializing "Detective Trap" in Weekly Shonen Jump under a new editor, Gorou Miura, whose approach clashes with theirs. Competing against rivals Eiji Niizuma, Kazuya Hiramaru, and Shinta Fukuda for the poll rankings that decide whether their series survives, Mashiro holds to his promise to Azuki Miho: their manga must earn an anime adaptation before they can be together. This second season continues directly from the first.
