In the shinigami realm, the death god Ryuk recounts a human story to a bored fellow shinigami. High schooler Light Yagami found a Death Note that kills anyone whose name is written in it, and used it to wage a secret campaign against criminals as the figure the public dubbed Kira. The killings drew out L, a detective who works through intermediaries and closes in on Kira's identity. Released as two television specials, this is a condensed recap of the Death Note anime, not new story content.
