Synopsis
A remastered version of Mamoru Oshii's 1995 film, reissued in 2008 with selected scenes redrawn in 3D-CG, a new opening, updated digital displays, and a re-recorded soundtrack by Kenji Kawai. In near-future Niihama, Major Motoko Kusanagi of Section 9 leads the hunt for a hacker called the Puppet Master, who slips between bodies and networks. The case pushes Kusanagi to question where her own ghost ends and her cybernetic shell begins. This is the updated cut of the original, not a new story.
