Nine animated shorts, made by Japanese studios, fill in the world around The Matrix. "The Second Renaissance" traces the war between humans and machines back to a household robot, B1-66ER, and the trial that followed. "Final Flight of the Osiris" ties straight into the live-action films, while the remaining segments follow new characters caught between the simulated world and the real one, each in its own visual style.
