Yoichi Isagi is one of three hundred high-school strikers locked inside Blue Lock, a walled facility the Japanese football association built after the national team flamed out of the World Cup. Its architect, the coach Jinpachi Ego, believes the country lacks one thing: a striker ruthless enough to win alone. Ego pits the three hundred against each other and cuts anyone who loses, so Isagi plays knowing that only the last striker standing earns a place on the national team.
