Kafka Hibino spent his adulthood cleaning up the corpses of the giant kaiju that plague Japan, his boyhood dream of joining the Defense Force long behind him. Then he gains the power to turn into a kaiju himself, tagged No. 8 by the very force he still hopes to serve. This concluding arc drives his double life toward its reckoning.
