Synopsis
The 2015 continuation of Gintama covers episodes 266–316 and marks the series' shift from episodic comedy toward long-form drama. Gintoki Sakata, Shinpachi Shimura, and Kagura still run the Yorozuya odd-jobs shop in an Edo occupied by aliens, but this season's back half is dominated by two consecutive serious arcs: the Shogun Assassination arc, in which competing factions move to kill Shogun Shige Shige while Gintoki serves as a body double, and the Farewell Shinsengumi arc, which follows directly from the assassination's aftermath. Comedy episodes still punctuate the run, but the dramatic arcs carry permanent consequences for the cast. Produced by BN Pictures.
