In an alternate Edo where aliens called Amanto have conquered Japan and outlawed samurai swords, Gintoki Sakata — a silver-haired slacker with a wooden sword and a sweet tooth — runs Odd Jobs Gin with the earnest glasses-wearing Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura, a super-strong Yato girl who carries an umbrella. The trio takes odd jobs around Kabuki-cho, from finding lost cats to clashing with Amanto gangsters and the Shinsengumi police force. Beneath Gintoki's laziness lies a fearsome past as the legendary Shiroyasha of the Joui War.
