Motoko Kusanagi brings Public Security Section 9 back to work on cyberbrain crime in a 2045 shaped by the Sustainable War, the managed conflict the big economies run to keep themselves solvent. Batou, Togusa, Ishikawa and the Tachikoma think tanks return with her, and the unit's standing target is still the post-humans: people whose brains have crossed into something faster, stranger and far harder to police than anything human. This second Netflix season picks up directly from the first.
