Ozu spills a soft drink on the only air conditioner remote in the Shimogamo Yusuiso, the collapsing Kyoto boarding house where the unnamed narrator is sweating out an already unbearable August. A fellow tenant named Tamura then turns up claiming to come from twenty five years ahead, so the narrator and Akashi settle on the obvious fix: go back one day and take the remote before the accident. Morimi builds this sequel to The Tatami Galaxy on the plot of Makoto Ueda's play Summer Time Machine Blues.
