Natalia, long before anyone calls her Mayor Barbaray Rose, travels with Shirou Ogami, a wolf beastman who cannot get clear of his own past. This light novel is set ahead of BNA: Brand New Animal and follows the two of them across a world that hunts beastmen, pulling goat and black-leopard communities out of reach and looking for ground the two species could share. Anima City, the refuge the anime opens in, is what the journey is heading toward.
