Yuusuke Makishima, Jinpachi Toudou and Shingo Kinjou raced past the first-years in the main story; this spin-off goes back and tells where each of them started. Arcs run through Sohoku's climbers, Hakone Academy and Kyoto Fushimi, following the third-year riders who anchor their teams before the Inter-High brings them together. The chapters are self-contained recollections rather than a continuing race, and they read beside Yowamushi Pedal rather than after it.
