Chizuru Yukimura reached Kyoto looking for her missing father and ended up inside the Shinsengumi. Toshizo Hijikata and Souji Okita there guard what her father built: the Water of Life, an elixir that makes a man faster and stronger and can leave him a mindless killer. This special compresses that first season into a single episode and aired the week before the second began, so everything in it has already been shown.
