In an Edo where giant insects called Mushi have been overrunning the country for a century, Jinbei Tsukishima takes his injured father's place in the Mushibugyou, the shogunate office raised against them, and joins its City Patrol as its weakest member. Hibachi fights with explosives, Mugai carries the unit's best sword, and Jinbei trains to close the distance. These three OVA episodes shipped with the fifteenth through seventeenth volumes of the manga, as side material rather than a continuation.
