News of flocks of birds vanishing sends Nobita into daydreams of flying on his own wings, and when Doraemon refuses to help, he builds a pair himself. While chasing Shizuka's runaway canary, he sees a portal open in the sky and a bird-boy named Gusuke come through it in an airplane. Helping Gusuke home, Nobita and his friends cross into Birdopia, the world of the winged people, where most birds despise humans and the soldiers of the vulture Commander Seagrid are on the hunt for them.
