Nobita takes in a clever stray dog he names Peko, and among the satellite photos of Africa that Doraemon's gadget produces, Peko turns up something remarkable: a giant stone statue deep in the Congo, in a fog-shrouded region no explorer has ever reached. Eager to discover something before anyone else, Nobita, Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian and Suneo set off on an expedition into the jungle with Peko, though Gian soon rebels against how much the group leans on Doraemon's gadgets to get through it.
