Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

Gentleman thief Lupin III walks off with a casino fortune only to find the bills are flawless counterfeits, leading him to the tiny duchy of Cagliostro. There he crosses paths with Clarisse, a runaway princess whom Count Cagliostro means to wed to secure his rule and a long-rumored hidden treasure. With Jigen at his side and Inspector Zenigata on his trail, Lupin sets out to free her. This 1979 feature was Hayao Miyazaki's directorial debut.

He and the refugees end up crewing the warship White Base, fleeing the conflict while a masked Zeon ace, Char Aznable, pursues them across space and Earth. The original 1979 series launched the Universal Century setting.

Doraemon is an earless robotic cat sent back from the 22nd century by Sewashi Nobi to look after his hapless ancestor, the clumsy and unlucky schoolboy Nobita Nobi. From a four-dimensional pocket on his belly, Doraemon produces future gadgets - the Anywhere Door, the Take-copter and countless others - to pull Nobita out of trouble, though the boy's misuse of them usually makes things worse. Episodes follow Nobita's everyday scrapes alongside his friend Shizuka, the bully Gian, and the smug Suneo.
