Sohei Saikawa, an aloof university engineering professor, and Moe Nishinosono, the bright daughter of his late mentor, visit a remote island research lab to meet the reclusive programming genius Shiki Magata, confined there since being acquitted of her parents' murder years earlier. When a body turns up inside a locked room that can only open from within, the pair set out to unravel a killing that should have been impossible.
