Fifth-grader Shuichi Nitori transfers schools and befriends the tall, boyish Yoshino Takatsuki. Shuichi wants to live as a girl; Yoshino, in turn, wishes to be a boy, and the two find quiet understanding in each other. Alongside classmates Saori Chiba and Kanako Sasa, they navigate friendships, crushes, and the slow approach of puberty in a small town where simply dressing the way they feel invites attention.
