Shoyo Hinata falls for volleyball after seeing Karasuno High's tiny ace, nicknamed the Little Giant, on television, and resolves to play despite his own short stature. In his only middle-school match he is crushed by Tobio Kageyama, a setter prodigy called the King of the Court — then finds himself on the same Karasuno team as Kageyama in high school. Forced to turn a bitter rivalry into a partnership, Hinata's speed and jump pair with Kageyama's precise setting as Karasuno works back toward the Nationals.
