Nai, a sheltered boy with no grasp of the outside world, sets out to find Karoku, the only person he has ever known, guided by nothing but a bracelet left behind in a trail of blood. He crosses paths with Gareki, a teenage thief who robs the mansions of the wealthy, and the two are pulled together when a Varuga in disguise traps them. The bracelet turns out to belong to Circus, the nation's elite defense agency, which takes both boys in as it hunts the human experiments that connect Nai's search to Karoku.
