Dr. Tenma builds Atom to stand in for his lost son Tobio, gives him an artificial heart, and then shuts him down when the substitution fails. Dr. Ochanomizu of the Ministry of Science brings Atom back online and puts him in a sixth-grade classroom, where a robot boy with that much power is never going to pass unnoticed. Atom works cases with the police, lives with a robot sister named Uran, and takes the brunt of a city that does not want machines walking around like people. This 2003 series is a remake of the 1963 original.
