On the road west, Genjo Sanzo, Son Goku, Sha Gojyo and Cho Hakkai rescue a young woman named Houran from a giant demonic creature, and Sanzo drives the monster off rather than killing it. Grateful, Houran invites them to spend the night at her master's mansion, but once inside, the house becomes a trap: illusions drag each of the four back into his past and his fears, split them up, and send doubles in their shape to blur friend and fake. Only Sanzo keeps his head, sensing a deliberate scheme behind it all. This theatrical film follows the Gensomaden Saiyuki TV series.
