High schooler Shirou Emiya, an amateur magus who can only reinforce objects, is pulled into the Fifth Holy Grail War when he accidentally summons Saber. Paired with the strongest Servant class yet unable to supply her with mana, Shirou stumbles through early battles until an uneasy alliance with classmate Rin Tohsaka and her Servant Archer stabilizes his position. Archer's identity and contempt for Shirou's idealism become the central mystery, while Caster's takeover of the war forces every Master into desperate new alliances.

Maomao is back to her old routine as a pharmacist in the pleasure district now that the chaos of the Shi clan's rebellion has settled. When something about a breakfast served at the Verdigris House strikes her as wrong, her instincts pull her into investigating what's actually going on. Jinshi, having revealed himself as the emperor's brother, is meanwhile learning to carry the weight of that title.

Legoshi, a gray wolf at Cherryton Academy, has confessed his feelings for the rabbit Haru and now trains to close the gap between predator and prey. Season 2 opens as the school announces that whoever solves the murder of Tem, the alpaca killed in Season 1, will be named the next Beastar. Meanwhile, Louis has left the academy to lead the Shishigumi, a lion-run crime syndicate operating in the city's black market.

Brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric pay a terrible price for attempting to resurrect their dead mother through alchemy: Edward loses a leg and then sacrifices his right arm to bind Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor. Edward becomes the youngest State Alchemist in history, and the two set out across Amestris in search of the Philosopher's Stone, the one artifact that might restore their bodies. This 2009 adaptation follows the original manga to its conclusion.

His companion in the fields is Einar, an Anglo-Dane enslaved when Vikings burned his farm and killed his family; the two work together clearing forest to earn their freedom. Season 2 follows what becomes of Thorfinn once his drive for vengeance has run out: stripped of his enemy, he starts again from nothing.
