Senbei Norimaki, a self-styled inventor in the oddball Penguin Village, builds what he means to be the perfect android girl and ends up with Arale Norimaki — a super-strong, deeply nearsighted child who takes everything around her at face value. Arale wanders the village among talking animals and walking objects while Senbei chases his inventions, his crushes, and the occasional scheme, and gag chapters pile up around her cheerful misreadings of how human life is supposed to work.
