Years after the original FLCL, Mabase has a new withdrawn teenager: Hidomi Nishigori, who expects nothing from her dull life and wears cat-ear headphones that flip from blue to red when she is about to "overflow". A woman named Julia Jinyu runs her over, a new teacher named Haruko Haruhara turns up at her school, and the war between Medical Mechanica and the Fraternity breaks into ordinary life again. Her classmate Ide is pulled in alongside her, across six episodes.
