Basara Nekki plays guitar for Fire Bomber and lives on City 7, the civilian half of a colony fleet thirty-five years out from the first Macross war. When the Protodeviln attack, they do not shoot to kill: they drain spiritia, the life energy of whoever they reach, leaving bodies that no longer respond. Basara's answer is to fly his Valkyrie straight into the fighting and sing, which puts him at odds with Gamlin Kizaki's pilots and with his own bandmate Mylene Flare Jenius.
