This arc retells the events of Hinamizawa from Shion Sonozaki's side, opening the answer half of the When They Cry mystery. Shion slips out of the all-girls school she was confined to and settles in Okinomiya, where she keeps trading places with her twin sister Mion to move freely. A chance run-in with Keiichi Maebara stirs up memories of Satoshi Houjou, the boy she once loved, and pulls her back toward Hinamizawa and its curse.
