Gon Freecss grew up believing his father was dead, until he learns that Ging is alive and one of the world's elite Hunters. To find him, Gon sets out to pass the brutal Hunter Exam and earn the same license. Along the way he falls in with Killua, a boy from a family of assassins; Kurapika, the last of a clan wiped out by the Phantom Troupe; and Leorio, who needs the license to fund his medical studies, each chasing the rank for reasons of their own.

High schooler Kirie Goshima lives in the small town of Kurouzu-cho, where her boyfriend Shuichi Saito grows convinced that the place itself is cursed — not by a ghost or a monster, but by the spiral. As the shape begins to take hold of the townspeople, ordinary citizens become obsessed with whirls and patterns, their bodies and the town warping in grotesque ways. Kirie and Shuichi watch the curse spread through Kurouzu-cho with no clear way to escape it.

ROOKIES
Koichi Kawato arrives as the new teacher at Futakotamagawa High, where the baseball club is a group of delinquents barred from competition after starting a brawl during a match. The players care only about girls, cigarettes, and goofing off, but Kawato refuses to give up on them and pushes them to remember they once loved the game. He sets them a goal that sounds impossible for thugs with a ruined reputation: reaching the national tournament at Koshien.

Seventeen-year-old Mizuki Mochizuki, reeling from her father's remarriage and a cheating ex-boyfriend, falls for Adam, a British musician she meets one night under the full moon. She slips away from family and friends to be with him in an abandoned mansion, until he warns he must leave by sunrise. In a parallel thread, grade-schooler Hotaru Shiraishi, hospitalized after an accident while chasing her cat Lulu, finds herself drawn to that same mansion and to a presence she cannot name.
Vagabond
In the aftermath of the Battle of Sekigahara, the headstrong Shinmen Takezo and his friend Matahachi Hon'iden survive the slaughter and return home as outlaws. Hunted for his violence, Takezo is captured by the monk Takuan Soho and Matahachi's betrothed, Otsu, who set him on a new path. Renamed Musashi Miyamoto after his village, he sets out across feudal Japan to test himself against the land's strongest swordsmen.

After her mother's death leaves her orphaned, cheerful Tohru Honda ends up living in a tent on land owned by the Sohma family, until Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Sohma take her in as their housekeeper. She soon stumbles onto their secret: thirteen members of the family are possessed by spirits of the Chinese zodiac and transform into those animals when hugged by someone of the opposite sex or when their bodies grow weak. Welcomed into the cursed household, Tohru sets out to understand the Sohma and the burden each of them carries.

Former concert pianist Sosuke Ajino, now Shuhei's teacher, hears Kai play and resolves to draw him toward proper training, even as Kai resists refining the wild style that is entirely his own.

Keitaro Urashima has failed the University of Tokyo entrance exam twice, chasing a childhood promise to attend the school with a girl whose name he can no longer remember. Sent to his grandmother's old inn, he finds it converted into the all-female Hinata House and is unexpectedly made its manager. Among the residents is Naru Narusegawa, a top-ranked exam hopeful, and the more they study together the more Keitaro suspects she may be the girl from his promise.

Sixth-grader Hikaru Shindo uncovers an old Go board in his grandfather's attic and releases Fujiwara no Sai, the ghost of a Heian-era Go master who longs to keep playing. Bound to Hikaru, Sai guides his moves, and a casual game draws the attention of Akira Toya, the gifted son of a top professional. Stunned that an apparent beginner could match him, Akira fixes on Hikaru as a rival, and Hikaru gradually moves from playing for Sai to wanting to master the game himself.

Hiromichi Kojima, the slumping star batter of the pro Lycaons, travels to Okinawa to train and runs into Toua Tokuchi, the unbeaten king of a one-on-one gambling game called One Outs. Tokuchi throws no harder than 134 km/h yet wins through cold psychology and probability rather than raw stuff. Convinced this gambler is the team's missing piece, Kojima drags him onto the Lycaons under a brutal contract: paid for every out, fined heavily for every run he allows.
クロノクルセイド
In 1920s America, Rosette Christopher works as an exorcist for the Order of Magdalene alongside her partner Chrono, a demon who fights at her side under a contract that quietly drains her own life. The two travel the country hunting demonic threats while Rosette searches for her missing younger brother Joshua, taken by the demon Aion. This manga by Daisuke Moriyama gathers a small crew around them, including the apostle girl Azmaria, as the trail toward Joshua deepens.

空の境界

Yoh Asakura is a shaman, a medium who channels spirits of the dead, and he partners with Amidamaru, the ghost of a centuries-old samurai. His easygoing goal is to become Shaman King, the one who commands the Great Spirit and can reshape the world, by winning the Shaman Fight held once every 500 years. His friend Manta Oyamada tags along as Yoh trains under the demanding regimen set by his fiancee Anna, while the tournament draws out rivals including his estranged twin brother Hao. Hiroyuki Takei draws the shounen manga.
遥かな町へ
Hiroshi Nakahara, a middle-aged salaryman, boards the wrong train after a few drinks and ends up in Kurayoshi, his childhood hometown, where he stops by his mother's grave. There he blacks out and wakes as a fourteen-year-old, his adult memories intact, living again with the family he lost decades ago. Knowing what is coming, Hiroshi sets out to understand why his father walked away one night and never returned.
