Monkey D. Trained in the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū style by master Hiko Seijūrō and deployed as a killer by Chōshū leader Katsura Kogorō, Kenshin operates without hesitation until a woman named Yukishiro Tomoe draws him into a life away from the battlefield. This four-episode OVA prequel traces the origin of Kenshin's cross-shaped scar.

Makoto Shinkai's roughly five-minute 1999 short, subtitled Their Standing Points, is narrated by a male cat who lives with a young woman in a small apartment. Self-produced by Shinkai largely on his own, it is an early, intimate work that foreshadows his later signature style.

This short film stages the rooftop clash that the Digimon Adventure television series later treats as the children's first encounter with Digimon.

When the group unwittingly releases her, Madoushi captures Sakura's companions and demands Clow himself, forcing Sakura to face a powerful enemy and find the courage to save those she loves.

Ash Ketchum, Misty, and Tracey wash ashore on Shamouti Island, where a festival names Ash the Chosen One who must gather three elemental treasures. To calm the legendary birds, Ash sets out to retrieve the treasures from their islands. This is the second Pokémon feature film.

Each episode parodies a different genre and openly mocks its own production, with the manga's author appearing as a character who polices how far the gags can go.
