The central Saikoroshi-hen arc strands Rika Furude in a peaceful alternate Hinamizawa where none of the village's tragedies ever happened, forcing her to choose between that calm world and the one she knows. It is a supplementary OVA, not a starting point for the franchise.

Each roughly five-minute installment spoofs scenarios from the original Haruhi series rather than telling a continuous story.

Together they push back against Simeon and its leader Adam Arclight, who harvests Fragments from the Needless he kills.

This third season continues the format with no change in Itoshiki's outlook.

This short animated film was written, designed, directed, and animated almost entirely by Atsuya Uki.
