They serve as supplementary chapters rather than a standalone entry point.

When a drink leaves Ayumu invisible, Haruna sends him into the school during a physical exam to retrieve a pendant. This OVA is a side story to the second season.

Yuuta Togashi and Rikka Takanashi return in a set of shorts bundled with the first season's home-video volumes. Each one runs a few minutes and plays the cast's chuunibyou routines as gags, staging the mock duels between Rikka and Sanae Dekomori as the fantasy spectacle the two picture in their heads. They are supplementary extras for viewers who already know the series, not a starting point.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - Nunnally in Wonderland

コードギアス反逆のルルーシュナナリーinワンダーランド

Lelouch sits beneath a tree with his sister Nunnally and offers to tell her a story the way he did when they were children. Using his Geass, he conjures a retelling of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland in which Nunnally takes Alice's place and the rest of the cast plays the roles around her, with Anya Alstreim as the White Rabbit. This light OVA short trades the war drama of the main series for a self-contained fairy-tale aside built for the two siblings.

Carnival Phantasm: HibiChika Special

カーニバル・ファンタズムヒビチカスペシャル

Made for the Type-Moon Fes 10th Anniversary Blu-ray, this longer Carnival Phantasm special leans on Shirou Emiya, Saber, Rin Tosaka, and Sakura Matou from Fate/stay night, alongside Tsukihime's Shiki Tohno, while spotlighting the comedic pairing of Hibiki Hibino and Chikagi Katsuragi that gives the episode its 'HibiChika' nickname. It plays as an alternate, more elaborate take on the parody format's usual finale gags rather than a fresh story, and follows on from the Carnival Phantasm OVA series.

Minami-ke: Omatase

Minami-ke: Omatase

みなみけお待たせ

Kuroko's Basketball Specials

Kuroko's Basketball Specials

黒子のバスケNG集

Haruka Amami and her colleagues are split into three groups across three episodes, each one following a different lineup through three days on the island before the festival concert. Made as bonus animation for the Shiny Festa games, the episodes stay with the rehearsals and the performance rather than the agency's usual training grind.

Haruka Amami and her colleagues keep working around them.

ましろ色シンフォニー -The Color of Lovers- ピクチャードラマ

Shingo Uryuu and the rest of the Mashiro-iro Symphony: The Color of Lovers cast return for two short picture-drama episodes bundled as Blu-ray/DVD bonus content, built around brief comedic vignettes rather than a continuation of the TV series' story. The gags lean silly and low-stakes, from a maid-outfit bit to a scene built around the group's pet, played for laughs rather than romance. Each episode runs about seven minutes, closer to a skit than a normal installment of the show.

Rinne no Lagrange Picture Drama

輪廻のラグランジェピクチャードラマ

These are still-image sketches with recorded dialogue, supplementary to the television series rather than an entry point.

InaDan Gag Gaiden

InaDan Gag Gaiden

イナダンギャグ外伝

Nineteen short gags, put out across three weeks of December 2012, pair the Inazuma Eleven footballers with the LBX pilots of Danball Senki and live off the mismatch between a football show and a robot-battle one. Nothing in them connects to either story. They exist to mark the theatrical release of the crossover film Inazuma Eleven GO vs. Danball Senki W, which puts Mamoru Endou's team and Ban Yamano's LBX in one plot, and they run as parody rather than as an entry point to either series.

The Prince of Tennis II Specials

The Prince of Tennis II Specials

新テニスの王子様

Players from Seishun Academy, Rikkai, Shitenhouji, and Hyoutei get downtime between qualifiers: casual matchups, court-assignment scrambles, and one especially chaotic stretch when food runs short around camp. Rather than pushing the U-17 storyline forward, the specials fill in how these rival schools' players actually get along, and sometimes clash, when nobody's watching the scoreboard.

As the Library Task Force navigates the growing political standoff with the Committee, journalist Maki Orikuchi's request for their protection strains loyalties on both sides. This film adapts the final volume of the Library War light novels and follows the earlier Library Wars film and TV series.

Irisviel von Einzbern walks a newcomer, addressed only as Disciple No. Zero, through the background and rules of the Holy Grail War in six comedic, classroom-style skits included across the Fate/Zero Blu-ray box sets. Kuroko's Basketball: Let's Chat

Kuroko's Basketball: Let's Chat

黒子のバスケおしゃべりしよっか

Included on the first Kuroko's Basketball fan disc, this special has the Seirin team recap their season-one matches in a deliberately silly, fourth-wall-breaking way, with Tetsuya Kuroko and Taiga Kagami openly acknowledging they are appearing in a bonus-disc episode. Played entirely for laughs rather than serious basketball drama, it leans on meta jokes about the anime itself instead of following up on the team's actual games.

Accel World: Acchel World.

Accel World: Acchel World.

アクセル・ワールド～あくちぇる・わーるど。～

Haruyuki Arita, Kuroyukihime, and the rest of the Black Legion turn up as exaggerated, chibi-styled versions of themselves in eight short parody skits bundled with the anime's home video release. The gag scenarios have nothing to do with Brain Burst or the Accelerated World, and each three-minute episode plays as a standalone joke rather than a continuation of the main Accel World story.

Eureka Seven: New Order

Eureka Seven: New Order

Written as an alternate ending to the TV series and first performed live by the original voice cast at a 2006 music festival, this special sends Eureka on a journey to scatter seven pieces of her soul across the land to calm the dying Scub Coral and save the planet. Going means leaving Renton and the rest of the Gekkostate behind. It functions as a bridge, not a continuation of the plot.

Packaged as a bonus disc with the TV anime's home release, this single-episode OVA adapts one of the original GA Bunko short stories rather than continuing the broadcast story, playing the household's alien slapstick for one more self-contained gag.

Bundled across the Blu-ray and DVD releases of the OniAi television series, these six shorts drop Akiko Himenokouji, Anastasia Nasuhara, Arashi Nikaidou, and Ginbei Haruomi Sawatari into stand-alone comedic bits rather than a continuing story. There is no season-long arc here: each short is its own gag built around the same household cast. The set functions as a bonus-disc extra rather than a new chapter in the story of Akiko and her brother Akito.

A miniature, melon-bread-eating version of Shana perches on Yuuji Sakai's head through two more chibi-format parody shorts, bundled with the Shakugan no Shana III (Final) Blu-ray and DVD volumes. The shorts spoof key scenes and battles from the main Shakugan no Shana series in exaggerated, super-deformed style. Rather than continuing the story, they poke fun at the franchise's own tropes as the third season winds down.

Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning

Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning

TIGER & BUNNY -The Beginning-

Picking up right after the TV series' second episode, this film has Kotetsu Kaburagi try to get his new partner Barnaby Brooks Jr. to bond with Stern Bild's other heroes, only for their rivalry on Hero TV to get in the way. When a thief named Robin Baxter steals a statue honoring the city's heroes, Kotetsu and Barnaby are called in to chase him down together. The film recaps the anime's opening episodes but weaves in enough new material, including Robin Baxter's heist, that it plays as an expanded retelling rather than a straight compilation.

ましろ色シンフォニー -Airiがあなたの彼女に!?-

This one-episode special reimagines the ending of Mashiro-iro Symphony: The Color of Lovers around Airi Sena, presenting her as the girl Shingo Uryuu ends up choosing.
